California law enforcement officials on Thursday said they were releasing recordings of 911 calls made in the explosive Northern California bus crash that took the lives of five high school students and five adults on a college tour.
The ten were killed one week ago when a FedEx truck crossed a 60-foot median on Interstate 5 near Orland, sideswiped a couple’s Nissan Altima and a collided head-on with the charter bus.
California Highway Patrol investigators said they will also conduct vehicle tests to determine the exact cause of the crash.
CHP Captain Todd Morrison said at a press conference Thursday that investigators will use "exemplary" vehicles — provided by the companies involved — as stand-ins for the ones destroyed in the crash.
FedEx donated a 2007 Volvo truck tractor trailer, and Silverado Stages gave 2014 Setra tour bus, which Morrison called a "sister ship" of the one involved in the crash.
All ten victims in the crash have been identified, including a recently engaged couple, a college admissions counselor and the the drivers of the truck and bus, according to NBC Southern California.
