The official death toll from the mudslide increased to 27 on Tuesday, with 22 people still missing, as Washington Gov. Jay Inslee requested help from the federal government for funeral expenses and housing.
Gov. Inslee said on Monday the estimated financial loss from the mudslide has reached $10 million.
