Louise Troh, the fiancée of Ebola victim Thomas Eric Duncan, continues to mourn the loss of her loved one, but knows that “today is a good day” for her family as they emerge from a mandatory 21-day quarantine without any signs of the deadly virus, her pastor said Monday.

“Today, joy is taking over for sure,” Pastor George Mason said about Troh, despite her ongoing grief over the death of Duncan.

Mason also relayed his conversations with Troh about:

  • Whether she feels Duncan was honest about his exposure to Ebola while in Liberia: “She does. I think she has her own story to tell about that,” he said.

  • The mistakes Texas Health Presbyterian made while treating Duncan: “Certainly, she appreciates the apology of the hospital, that they could have done some things differently, including admitting him that first day.”

  • Starting over, including replacing physical possessions destroyed while health officials as a precaution: “She continues to mourn the loss of not only her beloved fiancé but also all her possessions and being displaced."
