Just five years after a mass shooting that killed 13 at Fort Hood in 2009, the military base is again in the news for Wednesday afternoon's deadly rampage, in which three were killed and 16 injured. A lot of questions remain around the suspect and his motives, but it's also worth noting that this was the third shooting on a military base in the past year (the Washington Navy Yard and Norfolk, Va. the others).
How can we better prevent these sort of shootings? How is this different from 2009? What do we know now and expect to learn more of later?
NBC News hosted a live webcast at 1:15pm ET Thursday with NBC News Justice Correspondent Pete Williams, retired colonel and Medal of Honor recipient Jack Jacobs along with Gabe Gutierrez, who filled us in on the latest.
