An Arizona Republican legislator and congressional candidate thought he saw fearful border children inside a school bus. Turns out they were local kids going to camp.
Adam Kwasman, a GOP House legislator in Arizona, mistook a group of YMCA campers for migrant children Tuesday during a protest near an Oracle shelter — a blunder he repeated while talking to AZ Central’s Brahm Resnick. "Bus coming in. This is not compassion. This is the abrogation of the rule of law,” Kwasman posted on the scene in a tweet with a rear photo of a yellow school bus that has since been deleted. The Arizona congressional candidate later told Resnick he saw the “fear on their faces” as the children traveled nearby the Rite of Passage migrant shelter. When Kwasman realized the youth were not in fact unaccompanied minors crossing the border, he apologized.
