The U.S. Air Force has released images of its latest fighter jet on one of its first combat missions. An F-22 Raptor stealth jet - above - is seen being refueled by a KC-10 Extender tanker aircraft during a sortie on Friday. The aircraft were part of a strike package that was engaging ISIS targets in Syria, the Air Force said, but their location when the photo was taken was not disclosed.

Delivered to the Air Force in 2002 but never used in Afghanistan or Iraq, the sleek, radar-evading F-22 made its combat debut last week when it took part in the second wave of airstrikes over Syria, according to the Pentagon. More than 190 Raptors have been manufactured for the U.S. military at an average cost of $190 million each.
