Two of the four teens injured during Friday's school shooting in Marysville, Washington, were cousins of the attacker Jaylen Ray Fryberg, according to family members.

"They're just three complete buddies and they couldn't be closer than three brothers," said Don Hatch, grandfather of one of the victims. "Only God knows why it happened."

Witnesses say that the shooting happened inside the cafeteria, where Fryberg opened fire on three teenage women and his two male cousins before turning the gun on himself. One died and three were in critical condition. Another, who was shot in the jaw, was listed as being in a serious condition on Saturday morning.

On Friday night, just hours after the shooting, hundreds gathered for a vigil inside a local church to pray for the victims.

"If we can do anything, what we can do tonight is just keep our arms open and hug each other," one community member said.

Marysville Pilchuck High School said classes had been cancelled for a week.
