A Texas semiconductor company confirmed Saturday that 20 of its employees were passengers aboard the Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 that disappeared over the South China Sea.

Twelve of the passengers are from Malaysia and eight are from China, Freescale Semiconductor said in a news release posted on its website.

The Austin-based company, which has offices around the world, said, "The entire Freescale Semiconductor community is deeply saddened” by the news.

“At present, we are solely focused on our employees and their families,” said Freescale President and CEO Gregg Lowe. “Our thoughts and prayers are with those affected by this tragic event.”

The company said it was offering counselors and other professionals to support employees and others.
