The sister of suspected New York-New Jersey bomber Ahmad Khan Rahami claimed in a 2014 police report that he punched her in the face and was preparing to hit her with a dumbbell — before stabbing another brother who tried to come to her aid, according to documents obtained by the Associated Press on Tuesday.

Rahami was charged in the August, 2014 stabbing but family members asked police to drop the charges, and a grand jury declined to indict him, the AP reported.

Last week, Rahami was charged in both New York and New Jersey with federal counts of using weapons of mass destruction, after leaving a string of bombs in both states, including one that exploded in Manhattan and injured 31 people.

Rahami has also been charged by a Union County, New Jersey prosecutor with five counts of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, stemming from his capture following a gunfight with New Jersey police that left two officers injured and Rahami with a bullet in his leg.

On Monday, a federal judge declined to appoint an attorney to defend Rahami, saying the suspect is still too gravely injured to see a lawyer.

His sister, Zobydha Rahami, could not immediately be reached for comment.
