One victim of the stabbing spree at a western Pennsylvania high school took a moment to snap a selfie and let his Instagram followers know he was OK.

Nate Scimio posted the photo and the caption "Chillin at Children's" Hospital shortly after the stabbing rampage at Franklin Regional Senior High School in Murrysville.

NBC News' attempts to reach Scimio were not immediately successful, but a parent of another victim of the attack being treated at Children's confirmed he was among the wounded.

Scimio was being hailed as a hero on Twitter by students who said he reportedly pulled the fire alarm and told others to run.

Nineteen students and an adult security guard were hurt in the attack, which occurred just as the school day was beginning. Franklin Regional has an enrollment of about 1,200 students in Murrysville, about 20 miles east of Pittsburgh.
