OSCE Monitors Finally Reach MH17 Wreckage in Eastern Ukraine

International investigators finally were able to reach the crash site of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 in east Ukraine Thursday - their first successful visit in more than a week. Fighting between pro-Russia separatist rebels and government troops has prevented monitors and crash investigators from traveling along the main route to the wreckage.

The Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine posted on its official Twitter account that it had reached the area via a different route, accompanied by four Dutch and Australian experts. "They will now only do initial reconnaissance, so that they can start searching as soon as possible during a later visit," it said. Ukraine and the rebels accuse one another over the downing of the plane, which killed all 298 on board.
