Apple's big iPad event isn't until Thursday, but it looks like a rare misstep may have revealed the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 a day early. Apple appears to have updated its official user guide for iOS 8, available in the iTunes Store,to include images of both upcoming iPads. The company removed the images later on Wednesday.

The blog 9to5Mac first reported on the screenshots, which show that both the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 3 will include the Touch ID fingerprint sensor currently available on the iPhone. Otherwise, the devices look to be quite similar to the previous models. Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment, but given that the company has planned a splashy event in San Francisco on Thursday, it seems that someone pressed the publish button too early. That would be a simple but rare mistake for the famously private Apple, which works hard to keep its upcoming product secrets secret.
