Overall, Spotify seems to be doing fine despite the high-profile launch of Apple Music in June. The streaming service boasted 75 million active users and 20 million paying subscribers. In contrast, Apple Music has attracted 6.5 million customers to its service, which, like Spotify Premium, costs $9.99 a month. (Pandora still rules the roost with around 80 million active users, although they can't stream songs on-demand — instead they click stations that choose songs for them).

Spotify also claimed its Discover Weekly personalized playlists as a success, noting that they "reached 1.7 billion streams in just 5 months."
