Apple issued a new software update to iPhone users late Thursday, including the fixes intended to come with version 8.0.1 but not including the flaws that left many iPhone 6 and 6 Plus users without access to the phone function or Touch ID. The revised update, per Apple's description, not only remedies those critical failures, but also addresses bugs that prevented users from accessing HealthKit apps in the App Store and pictures in their Photo Library — and a handful of other problems. In an email to CNBC, Apple wrote: "We apologize for inconveniencing the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus users who were impacted by the bug in iOS 8.0.1." Apple said less than 40,000 devices were affected.
