Ever been looking for a picture you saw on Twitter yesterday, but when you search for it, get a mix of news, random people's tweets and other junk? The latest update to the Twitter app on iOS and Android is for you, then: Some simple filters will take the randomness out of searches.

The update, which should be live now both in the Google Play store and the App Store, brings a couple changes, but the most useful is certainly the filtered search.

It's straightforward to operate: When you search, just select the "Refine results" option and select whether you're looking for: photos, videos, news, user names, tweets just by people you follow, and so on.

There's also a new trending timeline in the "Discover" part of the app, where global and local events will be chronicled for your perusal. Download the new version of the app (free) to take advantage of these features.
