Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials say they are investigating a tweet by one of their sergeants that said the department received calls after a Facebook outage Friday morning. Sgt. Burton Brink, the spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley Station, told NBC News when reached by phone that calls were received by a dispatch operator at the Sheriff’s Crescenta Valley station following the outage. That interview came after he had tweeted:

Capt. Britta Steinbrenner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau late Friday disputed Brink’s account and said her office was unaware of any calls. She said she had not been in contact with Brink and that he was not on duty at the time he tweeted about the calls related to the Facebook outage. She said the department is investigating and it was not immediately clear if Brink violated department policy.
