Instagram is letting some of its power users filter out comments from internet trolls as part of a trial that could eventually be rolled out to the broader community of the Facebook-owned photo sharing app.
“Our goal is to make Instagram a friendly, fun and, most importantly, safe place for self expression. We have slowly begun to offer accounts with high volume comment threads the option to moderate their comment experience," an Instagram representative told NBC News in an email. "As we learn, we look forward to improving the comment experience for our broader community."

Those who have the feature (most likely some celebrities) will now be able to disable comments on a post or filter out comments with certain keywords.
Instagram didn't offer a timeline for when the moderation tools would be available to its 500 million users, however it's expected the tools will be offered to more high volume accounts in the coming weeks as part of the testing process.
Instagram receives more than one million abuse reports per week, which are dealt with by the same team community safety team Facebook uses to review flagged posts.
