Google seems to be reaping the rewards of being on so many devices and on so many carriers through its Android mobile OS, which is being activated on more than 300,000 smart phones a day.
The number is a breakthrough from the 200,000 activations a day figure that surfaced in August and was still the official number being touted as recently as Monday on official Google blog.
The newest Android device is Google's own Nexus S, which will release with the Gingerbread/Android 2.3 system.
All indications are that Android is still the fastest-growing mobile operating system in the United States, gaining fast on BlackBerry and the iPhone.
Androphones.com has compiled a chart of all the phones available with the Android OS. Check out the vast array (vs. the Apple iPhone's skimpy offerings) and it'll give you a sense of perspective of why Android, in all its permutations, continues to be unstoppable. It's like the Terminator of smart phones.
