After 15 hours of animation, about five hours of render time and 30 minutes to upload, YouTube user burningfajitasalt has a hit on his hands.
"Just One More Hat" was created using Source Filmmaker -- an animation tool that video game company Valve has been using to create animated films for games like "Team Fortress 2" and "Left 4 Dead 2." Valve will soon be making Source Filmmaker available to the public for free.
The animated musical is a lowly scout's lament about wanting just one more hat in the game "Team Fortress 2." The animation is solid and the lyrics are awesome, particularly if you are a "Team Fortress" fan like myself.
"Just One More Hat" has passed the 200,000 views mark and we expect those numbers to continue to soar.
Source Filmmaker is currently in beta but when it launches later this year it will be free via Valve's online Steam service. I myself have some special plans for the Source Filmmaker movie tool. It puts a professional animation tool in to gamers' hands and that can only lead to more creative hits like "Just One More Hat."
