There's some good news and bad news for Apple.
Good news first: The company finally managed to transfer ownership of the FaceTime.com domain. The bad news? The fact that someone else owns iPad.com means that the company still hasn't managed to collect all Apple-related domains.
TechCrunch reports that Apple recently completed transfer of the FaceTime.com domain after resolving potential trademark conflicts with a company called FaceTime Communications:
Apple struck a deal with the company to transfer said trademark over to them, and FaceTime Communications subsequently changed its company name to Actiance. As of very recently, ownership of the domain name FaceTime.com was also transferred over to the Cupertino company. It doesn’t resolve to an Apple-operated website yet, but it’s definitely now owned by the company, as the WHOIS records show.
This transaction means that Apple now owns FaceTime.com, iPhone.com, iPod.com, iMac.com, iWork.com, iTunes.com, and just about any other Apple-related domain — except for iPad.com. That particular domain is registered to a company called Enero 6 Corp and still appears to be out of Apple's hands for reasons unknown.
