To distribute information to people after the tornadoes and storms that ripped through its area, one army base in Fort Bragg turned to Facebook, and there found the people in their community they were trying to reach.
Since the tornadoes that ravaged the South this weekend, the Fort Bragg, N.C., Facebook page has become a fountain of resources for local residents both on and off the base. Through its Facebook status updates, people have been able to keep up with closed roads, canceled events, power outages and restorations, as well as where to go for disaster-relief supplies such as bottled water and how to donate to those affected by the storms.
The Facebook page also posted pictures of the local devastation.
As noted by TheNextWeb, the Facebook posts also served as a way for residents to exchange information and add their own updates.
