Inside you, right now, is there a Lady Gaga dying to express herself? Is there a true Belieber in you that wants to rock out Justin's hairstyle, if only for an hour? Or, are you sick of stalkers who are only after you for your looks?
You've probably already used an avatar for any or all of these things, or merely to exude a playful part of your personality. No matter, they're fun, they're time killers and they offer hundreds of variables. Now Google has entered into the fray with Androidify, a new, free app that installs on Android phones, either directly on the phone or tablet through Market or online through Android Market.
There's not much to it. You go in, click on the familiar rotund basic Android and start doing some nipping and tucking, using the clothes hanger icon to add hair and outfits, including accessories. You can really go to town on this, and save multiple avatars, pulling out the ones you want to fit any occasion. You can share your Android avatar via Gmail, on Facebook, Twitter, Picasa and use it for chats.
Here's the video, if you want to see a snappy step-by-step tutorial:
There's more info on the developers site (Google Creative Lab and Larva Labs).
