No, you didn't read that headline wrong. The iOS 6.0.1 software update released by Apple on Thursday does indeed fix a software update bug on the iPhone 5 — among other issues on several iOS devices.

According to a description provided by Apple, iOS 6.0.1 will fix a bug which prevents the iPhone 5 from installing software updates wirelessly over the air, an issue which caused horizontal lines to appear across the on-screen keyboard, a quirk which prevented the camera flash from going off at times, and a little security hole which occasionally allowed access to Passbook information directly from the lock screen.

Additionally, the software update is meant to improve the reliability of connections to encrypted WPA2 Wi-Fi networks and resolve issues which prevent the iPhone from using cellular networks at times. There are also various other tweaks and security patches included in the update.

If you're ready to install iOS 6.0.1 on your iOS device, then connect the gadget to iTunes and hit the "check for updates" button. (Alternatively, head into your device's "Settings" menu, select the "General" tab, and tap the "Software Updates" option to download the update over the air.)
