A rose by any other name would look just as lovely in a vase, so we'd speculate that Google's Picasa and Blogger services will remain as popular as ever — no matter how the search engine giant rebrands them.
Mashable reports that Google intends to rename the photo-sharing and blogging services as part of an effort to unify its brand. This means that Picasa will soon become Google Photos and Blogger will be dubbed Google Blogs:
The transition from Picasa and Blogger to Google Photos and Google Blogs will occur "in a month to a month and a half,"[Mashable's] been told. The date aligns with the likely public launch of Google+.
Considering that many people — at least those within my odd circle of acquaintances — already think of Picasa as Google Photos, I wonder if the change will significantly bother anyone other than someone who has picked up a domain along the lines of Awesome-Picasa-Tips-And-Tricks-That-You-Should-Click-On.com or similar.
