'Minecraft' on Xbox Live a smash success

Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition
Microsoft

As previously reported, demand for "Minecraft" on the Xbox 360 is quite high. An official port of the real thing arrived on Xbox Live earlier this week, leading many to wonder if it'll fare as well as the imitators.

Thus far, the outlook seems positive. More than 400,000 copies of "Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition" were sold in the first 24 hours.

This number was highlighted by Larry Hryb, director of programming for Xbox Live, in a recent blog post where he also pointed out that the game has sold more than any other Xbox Live Arcade title during the first 24 hours.

Adding to this is a tweet from the game's creator, Markus Persson, who casually mentioned that the title was "profitable in an hour."
