On October 12, iOS 5 — the latest version of Apple's mobile operating system — will become available. And in preparation for this big change, Apple has released iTunes 10.5 — a software update which you will need in order to upgrade your mobile devices to iOS 5.
In addition to allowing you to upgrade your gadgets to iOS 5, iTunes 10.5 will also enable Wi-Fi-syncing — meaning that you'll be able to automatically sync your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iTunes any time they're both on the same Wi-Fi network.
Oh, and the new iTunes software will also bring support for iTunes Match — Apple's cloud-based music service — even though the service won't actually launch until later this month.
You can get iTunes 10.5 via the iTunes Update feature or through Apple's website right now.
