Apple's newest offering, the third-generation iPad, willbe available for purchase in stores and online on Friday, March 16. Here's whatyou need to know before reaching for your wallet.
With long lines expected for buyers of the new iPad, Apple Stores will open at 8 a.m. Friday, the first day the new tablet becomes available.
Indeed, the fever's building for Friday, and it seems hard to imagine it any other way, even as newer iPads are introduced by Apple. But one research firm, IDC, says that by 2015, "the sheer number of vendors shipping low-priced, Android-based tablets means that Google's OS will overtake Apple's in terms of worldwide market share by 2015."
One more thing about Apple: It would be surprising if the next-generation iPhone is announced as anything other than the "new iPhone" when it is finally revealed to the world this summer or fall.
In an about face of a policy that in recent weeks threatened to cut off the accounts of erotica e-book publishers that may publish "obscene" content, PayPal has updated its policy to focus on the removal of specific e-books, rather than mandate the removal of entire classes of books.
