The Bug-A-Salt gun is lethal to the flies within two to three feet, allowing you to take a shot without getting so close you scare them away.
Bugs remain whole so they are easy to clean up, according to Lorenzo Maggiore, the Santa Monica, Calif.-based artist who designed the gadget and is raising funds to sell it via crowdfunding site indiegogo.
The loader cap holds about 50 shots worth of table salt. And since it fires salt, it’s non-toxic. The gun isn’t a toy, Maggiore cautions, and should be treated with respect.
While it won’t penetrate skin or furniture, it could cause damage to the eyes, he notes.
So far, he has raised more than $100,000 on indiegogo, well ahead of his $15,000 goal. You can pre-order yours today for $30.
