Android 4.2 skips Christmas

Some of us would just as soon bypass the month of December and get to the new year without having to worry about shopping, holiday pressures, traffic and crowds. Now, Android 4.2 has made that easy for you! It's missing from the People/Contacts app.

The omission in the latest version of Google's mobile operating system was first noted by the Android Police site, and commented on extensively on Google's Android Open Source Project forum. Android 4.2, also known as Jelly Bean, isn't on a ton of devices yet, but is on newer ones, such as Google's new Nexus 4 phone and Nexus 7 tablet.

"Today I was inserting birthday of a friend in my contact list so that I can sync the birthdays in my calendar. I noticed that the December month is missing," posted one user on the Android forum. "When I pressed new event the calendar came but it was not having the option for the month December."

Others shared concerns about the same problem. Google says it's working on a fix.

In the meantime, the wags are having fun:

"Either this has something to do with the end of the world in 2012, or Google is the Grinch Who Stole Christmas," posted one on the forum site.

And for the conspiracy theorists, said another: "Google bought december 2012 as a marketing strategy so people can't purchase millions of iPad minis for christmas."
