Sprint will bring two Windows Phone 8 devices, one each from Samsung and HTC, to its offerings by this summer. It's the last major U.S. carrier to add smartphones with Microsoft's newest mobile operating system to its portfolio.

The company made the announcement with Microsoft at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas Monday.

Both new phones will qualify for Sprint's "Everything Data" plan, which is unlimited data. Both will work on the company's 3G and 4G LTE networks, Sprint said, and will have an "impressive lists of features including dual cameras enabling video chat, dual-core processors for enhanced internal speed between applications and support for expandable external memory."

More information on the phones themselves, and pricing, "will be shared closer to their availability dates," Sprint said.

“Sprint has had a strong relationship with Microsoft for many years so we are excited to reinforce our commitment to the Windows 8 platform by sharing the details and timing for our first Windows Phone 8 smartphones,” said Fared Adib, a Sprint senior vice president, in a release.
