Do you have a penchant for the twee and the retro? Do you love sharing your Instagram pics with others? The Projecteo micro-projector might be right up your alley.
Projecteo began as a Kickstarter project back in November, where it more than quadrupled its $18,000 goal. It's really nothing more than a tiny LED projector that shows images from tiny slide wheels you order, each with 9 shots from your Instagram account, but its cute design seemed to strike a chord. Today is its first day of availability to the general public.
It runs on a few watch batteries and the light is only bright enough to make a small image even in a darkened room — but it makes up for it with its size. Small enough to go in a back pocket (though it may be noticed), the device is the perfect thing for people who like to be the center of attention at bars and parties. Pull out the Projecteo with images of the trip to Vegas and watch your friends gather round.
At $25.99, it could be a great gift for the Instagram fanatic in your life, although the cost of the wheels may add up quickly: $8.99 makes it about a dollar a picture, rather more than the cost of showing them off with your smartphone.
Still, it's a charming little device and sure to draw comment. You can buy the Projecteo and order slide wheels at the device's website.
