The latest version of the Tumblr iPhone app is full of significant changes. Not only is it "native," rather than being Web-reliant — making it speedier and smoother — but it also has plenty of clever new touches.
The app offers a redesigned Dashboard, with bigger photos of posts which load lightning-fast. It also has a new notification view so that you can see which posts were liked, reblogged, or commented on.
Thanks to new gestures, you can navigate through the Tumblr app in a fairly intuitive way. Swipe right on the screen to go back to a previous view, tap and hold on photos, links and other items to view more options, and so on. The whole app is suddenly much more pleasant to use.
Oh, and as a bonus: Animated GIFs now play automatically in the Dashboard.
