A powerful 1GHz dual-core dual-channel processor, 8GB memory and 4Gb LP DDR2 ... what more could you want from an Android smartphone? How about dual 5MP cameras that can take 3D video and photos which you can view on a bright 4.3-inch 3D WVGA screen — without even needing 3-D glasses?
LG's Optimus 3-D has all of those things wrapped up in a gorgeous body.
There are no price and availability details for the device just yet, but as Gizmodo's Kat Hannaford reports, it is a powerhouse:
Inside the Optimus 3D is a Texas Instruments 1GHz OMAP4 dual-core processor, with 4GB of LG DDR2 and 8GB of memory. Those twin 5MP lenses can take photos and video in 3-D, which can either be viewed on the 4.3-inch WVGA screen (without the need of glasses), or thrown up onto a 3DTV or computer monitor via HDMI or DLNA.
Don't worry if 3-D doesn't appeal to you, through lack of compatible TV or just a general malaise to anything pitting itself as "larger than life," as everything can be shot on 2-D, too.
For those who are more focused on the software of the device than the hardware specs, it's worth noting that the Optimus 3-D will launch with Android Froyo on board — but you'll definitely be able to upgrade to Gingerbread later on.
