When the Stan "The Man" Lee first let loose that he was slated to appear in the upcoming video game adaptation of the "Amazing Spider-Man" movie, many began to speculate how he would be played.
Turns out, true believers will be able to guide the man who built Marvel Comics across the Manhattan skyline -- provided they pre-ordered from Amazon.com.
Those who put their money down in advance, and online, will get access to a set of special mission in which Lee has "borrowed" the powers of arguably his most-famous creation.
His goal is to collect pages from his latest script, and along the way he'll be spouting witty banter, the kind his fans have come to know and love. And at the very end will be a special surprise that coincides with the 50th anniversary of Spider-Man.
Meanwhile, those who pre-order the game through Gamestop will get the chance to assume the character of Rhino, one of Spidey's most battle-tested foes. The player will be challenged to destroy anything and everything that gets in his way. Perhaps Peter Parker himself?
Sounds neat, but not nearly as exciting as what Amazon.com is offering.
