"Transformers: The Ride – 3D" opens at Universal Studios Florida on Thursday, designed to make riders feel like they're hurtling through the 3D-movie of the same name. Strapped into flight simulation cars and equipped with 3D glasses, the ride shimmies and shakes ride-goers as close as 15 feet from video screens filled with HD computer-generated imagery and special effects, plunging them into the never-ending intergalactic battle by the Autobots to save the Earth from the Decepticons.

“Transformers is one of the movie industry's most successful franchises and Universal's ride offers a four-minute, condensed version of all the action that people loved from those movies,” Robert Niles, editor of Theme Park Insider told NBC News. “It's just the robots, fighting, with the audience along for the ride - literally.”

Colin Lashier of Johnson City, NY has a six year old son, Maguire, who is a big fan of Transformers. “He’s been harassing us to take him to Orlando,” Lashier told NBC News. “We’ve already been to Disney World, so next time we’ll go to Universal and make sure he gets to go on the new ride.”

"Transformers: The Ride – 3D" is at Universal Florida at 6000 Universal Boulevard Orlando, Florida. It opens Thursday, June 20. A one-day ticket to Universal costs $92, or $86 for ages 3-9. Phone: 407-363-8000.UniversalOrlando.com.
