Delta Air Lines Flight 1921 was diverted on Thursday when a female passenger became unresponsive. The flight, from Detroit to Phoenix, was carrying 151 passengers and six crew members.
"The captain elected to divert to [Colorado Springs] and declared an emergency," Anthony Black, a spokesman for Delta Air Lines, said in a statement to msnbc.com.
A doctor and flight attendants performed CPR, but upon landing in Colorado Springs, the woman was removed from the flight and confirmed deceased, Black said.
The flight continued to Phoenix and arrived two-and-a-half hours late. Black said the airline could not disclose any additional details about the woman's identity or whether she died in-flight.
