Four people aboard the Virgin Atlantic jet that made an emergency landing at London's Gatwick Airport on Monday suffered minor injuries, the airline said in a statement.
Gatwick was temporarily closed after the London-to-Orlando flight returned to Gatwick about two hours after takeoff because of a "technical problem" on board the aircraft, officials said.
"The captain decided as a precautionary measure to immediately evacuate the aircraft," Virgin Atlantic said in a statement, and said all passengers and crew disembarked the plane.
According to Gatwick's Twitter page, the airport is slowly returning to service: "We've re-commenced flights so arrivals and departures are slowly resuming, there will be some knock-on delays."
Earlier, an airport spokeswoman said flights in and out of Gatwick were suspended because the plane was on the runway as passengers disembarked.
Flight 27 from Gatwick to Orlando was carrying 299 passengers and 13 crew members, according to the Associated Press. The jet, an Airbus A330-300, took off at 5:48 a.m. ET and made the emergency landing about two hours later.
