The price tag for Porsche's new Panamera sedan starts at $75,000. But for a tiny fraction of that, drivers can now take the German company's newest vehicle out for a spin on their next vacation.
Rental car giant Hertz announced that it will rent out the Panamera sport sedan this month in select California, Florida and Nevada locations. It will set travelers back $250 per weekend day.
"We're confident the Porsche Panamera will provide a unique driving experience for customers who are passionate about high-end performance vehicles," Hertz chairman and CEO Mark P. Frissora said in a statement.
Since the cars will rent as part of Hertz's high-end "Prestige Collection," it'll be alongside luxury cars from Mercedes, Infiniti and Cadillac.
This new deal lets Porsche expose its products to a premium clientele, including current Porsche drivers, according to the car company's North American spokesperson Nick Twork.
But Hertz is not the only rental car company to offer Porsche cars. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is already renting Porsche cars that they've bought from dealers, Twork said.
Renting high-end vehicles from independent rental companies is usually an expensive proposition, according to Vincent Catena, editor-in-chief of Porsche enthusiasts publication, 9 Magazine.
"The opportunity for the average person to be exposed to the brand and be able to get behind of a wheel (of) one of the best touring cars in the world is an unbelievable experience," he said.
