Syria's Assad makes rare TV appearance
Syrian state television broadcast pictures of President Bashar Assad attending a religious ceremony in a mosque in Damascus on Thursday, to mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad. The appearance came amid reported shelling of areas outside the capital. NBCNews.com's Dara Brown reports.
