1 dead as storm moves through NY region 

A fast-moving storm packing 100 mph winds, hail and heavy rain Thursday triggered a series of tornado warnings Thursday. A tree came down on a car on a local highway and killed the driver.

BRIAN WILLIAMS, anchor: And north on the turnpike, some severe weather to tell you about tonight here in the New York City area . At the height of the rush hour, some parts of this city it became night early. There were tornado warnings for two of the five New York City burroughs. There were reports that funnels were sighted and may

have touched down. There is damage: trees, signs, power lines, power outages, airport delays. And we have just into us tonight some dramatic video of those huge bolts of lightning striking very close to the Statue of Liberty . You can see how severe the storms were for a time.
