Veteran NBC Sports chief Dick Ebersol resigns

Dick Ebersol, a Saturday Night Live founder, Olympics executive producer, and the man who brought Sunday Night Football to NBC, resigned on Thursday. NBC's Brian Williams reports.

BRIAN WILLIAMS, anchor (Los Angeles): Big announcement at our company today. Dick Ebersol is leaving. His official title is chairman NBC Sports Group , but in plain English he's the guy who executive produced all those hours of Olympic coverage over the years that has kept countless American families sitting in their couches, staring at televisions for hours on end, wondering how the luge was going to end up or if the Romanian gymnast would stick her landing off the parallel bars. He has run the last eight Olympic games on NBC . Dick 's been at the network for 33 years. He was among the founders of " Saturday Night Live ." He brought " Sunday Night Football " to NBC.
