Google to buy Motorola

Google made a deal to acquire Motorola's mobile-handset business for about 12.5 billion dollars. NBC’s Brian Williams reports.

BRIAN WILLIAMS, anchor: The smartphone wars just got more interesting. Google 's now going to become a manufacturer. They've made a deal to acquire Motorola 's mobile handset business for about $12 1/2 billion. If this gets approved, the deal turns Google , the maker of the Android platform, into a full-blown cell phone maker in direct competition with Apple .
