Civil rights leader Fred Shuttlesworth dies

The Rev. Fred Shuttlesworth, a celebrated civil rights fighter, died on Wednesday at age 89. NBC’s Brian Williams reports.

BRIAN WILLIAMS, anchor: town. The Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth has died. As the Associated Press put it today, he was quote "bombed, beaten and arrested in the fight for civil rights." Dr. King once called him a courageous freedom fighter. He was a truck driver at first who studied religion in night school before becoming pastor of Bethel Baptist in Birmingham . He was in the fight every day until his death. Reverend Fred Shuttlesworth was 89. And Kenneth Dahlberg
