‘Underwear bomber’ pleads guilty

Accused Christmas Day bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab pleaded guilty to eight criminal charges, including conspiring to commit terrorism. NBC’s Brian Williams reports.

BRIAN WILLIAMS, anchor: The biggest terrorism case since the 9/11 attacks came to an abrupt end today when the so called underwear bomber, who tried to bring down a jet airliner on final approach into Detroit Christmas Day of '09, pleaded guilty today in federal court in Detroit on the second day of his trial. He now faces a potential sentence of life in prison.
