Eddie Murphy won’t host Oscars

Eddie Murphy withdrew as host of the Academy Awards after former producer Brett Ratner left his position. Ratner was heavily criticized for using a gay slur. NBC’s Brian Williams reports.

BRIAN WILLIAMS, anchor: As you may know, Eddie Murphy was named host of the next Academy Awards , but he's not anymore because his friend the producer was pulled off the project. Murphy 's re-emerged of late, starring in the film "Tower Heist," but so much for the Oscars . And at least they have a deep bench of bullpen talent to call on, from Crystal to Martin to Baldwin to Fey and then some. Up
