President George W. Bush presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Andy Griffith at a ceremony in the East Room of the White House November 5, 2005. In honoring Griffith, President Bush said “There is only one Andy Griffith and we thank him for being such a friendly and beloved presence in our American life.”
