‘Fiscal cliff’ could pull $500 billion from recovery

The fragile economy would be hit hard if lawmakers cannot come to an agreement on how to avoid the so-called ‘fiscal cliff.’ If they can fix the problem in early January, however, the effects would likely be minimal -- although it’s unclear what the impact would be on global confidence. CNBC’s John Harwood reports.
