Paying tribute to a selfless sacrifice

Myrlie Evers-Williams became the first woman and layperson to deliver the invocation at the presidential inauguration. The widow of Medgar Evers, who was assassinated after becoming a powerful figure in the fight for civil rights, Myrlie Evers-Williams delivered a six-minute prayer that was more than a century in the making.
