Americans Airlines back in the air after outage

For several hours on Tuesday American Airlines grounded its flights due to a problem with their reservations and check-in system. NBC’s Brian Williams reports.

>>> huge story across this country today for travelers and all those counting on them. a computer problem took down the american airlines ' reservations and check-in system. for a time the entire airline grounded its fleet. they said it was a glitch and not a hack. american terminals around the country were jammed with delayed passengers and arriving aircraft, landing unannounced in many cases at airports across the country. they were forced to sit on tarmacs with no gates available to offload passengers. more than 700 flights were canceled. nearly 1,000 delayed before things got straightened out. but a very bad day at american airlines .
