Top of the world marks its 60th
On this day in 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tensing Norgay became the first men in history to reach the summit of Mount Everest. Since then, more than 3,000 climbers have gazed at the world from a height of 8,848 metres. And today, 60 years since that very first feat, celebrations are being held across the world.
